Literacy and Numeracy Special Needs

I have worked as a teacher within special needs education, particularly dyslexia and ADD/ADHD both within primary and secondary schools as well as within my home.  I tutor to KS3 in literacy and numeracy to improve pupil's ability to concentrate and regain/develop an interest in their work. The tutoring is carried out at the pace of the student, using a variety of mediums.  I like to work closely with the parents to ensure that I have a good understanding of their triggers and of their behaviour within their home.

Testimonials

"Hi Valerie - Thanks once again for your hard work in my French learning.  Through your professionalism and good humour, you made my lessons really enjoyable. Best wishes Gareth (adult)

"Hi Valerie,
I can't say more than the fact that I have loved EVERY lesson that I have had ....  I do not want to stop learning French and I think you are a great teacher." Susie (adult)

Dear Valérie
Thank you very much for helping me get my french up to speed for my exams,I am really glad that I attended the lessons. I found that the repeated planning exercises really did help me in the writing section. I found that, even weekly, that my verbs were getting increasingly better, due to the repetition of the verb exercises ( especially in the past tense).Thanks. Callum (12)

"As for the lessons, i felt that they were definitely very helpful, particularly as far as exam technique goes in that i was able to do a lot of practice and then see specifically where i went wrong. The tips about understanding and being able to work out bits i didnt know in long reading passages were brilliant, i put them to good use in the exam! Generally, the flexability and variety of exercises and areas that we covered in lessons was great, i'm definitely a lot more confident in the areas that i was weaker in before" Maria (18)

"E. gained more than educationally from his sessions with you. It was wonderful how you were able to enforce boundries with him and gaining his trust in such a short time.
The way in which you presented his sessions installed an interest in studying that he had lost, from not being able to concentrate to sitting and writing stories and reading was amazing.  I really cannot put into words how grateful I am for the patience understand and support you also gave me.    With heart felt thanks" Marina about son (7) now back at school.
